the knowledge (or science) of life/vital power
Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda is believed to be humanity’s oldest healing science. Ayurveda is based on the principle of balance: it identifies three different archetypal energies that determine a person’s health and strives to correct imbalances within or between these types of energy. Ayurvedic remedies focus primarily on diet, exercise, and mindfulness. Because the practice of Ayurveda is highly individualized—depending on the time of year, the weather, and life events, in addition to a person’s Ayurvedic constitution—extensive training is required to correctly apply its principles.
Transform your stay into a restorative retreat by arranging an Ayurvedic consultation with Laura Coburn, Director of Serenity. In addition to extensive study with Kathryn Templeton, Laura is a member of National Ayurvedic Medical Association and the Himalayan Institute, where she earned her Ayurveda Health Counselor certification.
Join Laura for an overview of daily practices inspired by the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda. Participants will learn—and, in some cases, see a demonstration of—daily practices and will leave with informational handouts. Each participant will receive recommendations to support their health goals.
