Hike to the Council Tree 2:00 pm

May 18 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Join Linda Schwab, Village of Aurora Historian, for a gentle hike through the village and across the fields to the sacred site of the Council Tree oak. This site was occupied by the Cayuga nation of the Haudenosaunee during the “Woodland” period until 1779, when the Sullivan-Clinton campaign came to Aurora during the Revolutionary War. Learn about this important and fascinating place while enjoying some fresh air and an outdoor adventure.

Overnight guests of the Inns of Aurora may sign-out Hunter boots as well as portable camp stools for resting at the site. Please arrive at the Schoolhouse at 1:45 p.m. if you wish to sign-out any equipment for the hike. This hike is free and open to all. Advance registration is appreciated. Meet at the Schoolhouse. We’ll set off promptly at 2:00 pm.
