Bacon Tasting at Aurora Cooks! 2:30 pm
January 11 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm$30.00
Join Grace Mattingly at Aurora Cooks—the Inns of Aurora’s stunning new demonstration kitchen—for a relaxed and educational tasting experience. After a champagne toast, gather around the island or have a seat at a nearby table as though you’re at a chef’s home kitchen and enjoy all of the comforts afforded by an outstanding host.
With delectable tastes and take-away tips for applying expert techniques in your own home, this 60-minute tasting is an engaging and intimate culinary experience. Enjoy a glass or two of wine, a craft beer, or a hand-blended cup of tea as you watch, learn, and taste the magic behind a truly well-made meal.
In this edition of Aurora Cooks, we’ll explore bacon.
Bacon is magical. Not only is it delicious on its own at breakfast, lunch, and dinner — it can be added to almost any other dish you can think of to lend a surprising smoky-salty-umami kick. And it gets even better! Beyond the humble breakfast-and-burger strips that most Americans are familiar with is a whole wide world of bacony goodness to be explored. There’s Korean-style pork belly; Italian panchetta, porchetta, and proscuitto; Canadian bacon; not to mention all the various smoking and curing variations. Experimenting with this extremely versatile food is a must for any home chef.
This tasting workshop will introduce guests to 4 different styles of bacon side by side, including local pork products from here in the Finger Lakes. The side-by-side tasting will showcase the difference in flavor and texture between each preparation. We’ll also pair your bacon with some snacks and beverages for maximum deliciousness.
Please register in advance. Doors open and check-in begins 10 minutes prior to start time. Classes begin promptly.
