Aurora Cooks! Tasting: Butter 3:30 pm

September 29 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Join Patrick Higgins and Grace Mattingly at Aurora Cooks—the Inns of Aurora’s stunning new demonstration kitchen—for a relaxed and educational tasting experience. After a champagne toast, gather around the island or have a seat at a nearby table as though you’re at a chef’s home kitchen and enjoy all of the comforts afforded by an outstanding host.

Butter is the new cheese! Join us to taste 4 different kinds of butter varying in origin, price, and purpose. Experience tasting with bread, raw vegetables, and touches of local salts. Learn a few of our favorite kitchen butter tricks and tips. Making brown butter for your pasta or give your baking that extra toasty flavor. And using all those leftover herb stems, garlic, and butter scraps to form a compound butter perfect for sautéing or just spreading on a beautiful piece of bread.

  • The process of making butter. By hand, “small batch” and commercially
  • Different regulations varying by country and what difference that makes
  • Differing colors and textures, what do they represent
  • Different butter for different uses
  • Salted vs. Unsalted … the not so great debate

Please register in advance. Doors open and check-in begins 10 minutes prior to start time. Classes begin promptly.

Round out your visit with dinner at 1833 Kitchen & Bar. Reservations strongly encouraged.
