Erik Burling

An ardent quest to understand the deeper meaning of spirituality has led Erik to an interesting intersection of both Eastern and Western disciplines, including yoga. It is from this convergence point that he interprets a nuanced understanding of what yoga is and how it can be of value to the modern householder.

Erik invites students from all walks of life to join him to experience yoga in varied ways: both East and West, traditional and new age, earthbound and cosmic, that are ultimately intended to nourish the soul and spirit. Important influences have included David Garrigues, Joan White & John Schumacher.
Erik is pursuing his Masters in Divinity at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. He is available for private spiritual mentoring that can be crafted to include movement & meditation if desired. He lives in Varick, NY on a farmette with his partner Lauren and their many animals.

Sean Roulan

As a yoga teacher and hiking guide at the Inns of Aurora, Sean leads flowing classes focused on breath and alignment, centering each student's experience within their own body. His classes are effective for beginners and advanced practitioners, and focus on offering increased stability and inspiration through yoga classes.

Sean specializes in Vinyasa Flow and alignment-focused classes. He earned his initial RYT-200 hours from Simon Park of Liquid Flow Yoga, and an additional 200-hour training with Nevine Michaan of Katonah Yoga. He finds great inspiration for his teaching in the natural world, as well as the principles and technique of breathwork.

Sean discovered the mental and physical benefits of the practice nearly 20 years ago. He has personally benefited from the alleviation of pain and stagnation caused by his scoliosis.

In addition to the open group classes he offers at the Inns of Aurora, Sean is available on request to offer private flow yoga classes, alignment based workshop with verbal cue or physical assists, magic square meditation, and guided nature hikes.

Olivia Shea

Olivia's yoga journey evolved from her experience as a competitive athlete. From sports in high school to soccer and track and field at a collegiate level, her athletic career was full of accomplishment—but plagued with ankle and foot injuries. She spent her college athletic career with taped feet and constant post-game rehab. Then she discovered the restorative benefits of yoga. Eventually, she became a certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT) and earned her RYT-200 hours from Rahini School of Yoga and Meditation in Huntington, NY.

Olivia’s classes connect with the athlete in all of us by focusing on the lengthening of tired and tight muscles. She shares poses that strengthen balance, flexibility, power, mental focus, and stamina. Through this style of yoga, students can enjoy improved performance, injury reduction and faster recovery from endurance training, or simply the day-to-day effects that life has on the body.

Be well at the Inns of Aurora
