Blog, Finger Lakes, History // EAmbrose // 4 July 2012Nothing says Happy Birthday, America like a history lesson about one of the nation’s greatest presidents!
Riddled with colleges & historial landmarks, the Finger Lakes region is a surprising treasure trove of academic & literary talent. One such individual, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Pulitzer-prize winning author and historian, will read from her book Team of Rivals, soon to be made into the movie Lincoln. The work focuses on the politcal work and success of President Abraham Lincoln. According to the Auburn Citizen, “The lecture is scheduled for 7 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, in the Auburn High School auditorium, 250 Lake Ave. Tickets for the event are $50. A VIP event and book signing will be hosted at the Springside Inn. Tickets for the VIP event are $75. Tickets will go on sale Aug. 15 through the Seward House Museum. Advance tickets will be available for museum members beginning July 18.” The article about Ms. Kearns’ reading can be found here, or a corresponding Syracuse Post-Standard article can be found here.
